The Collection
The Collection is an on-going installation work that preserves and honours the ephemeral aspects of existence. Highlighting our connections with everything and one. This cataloguing serves as a testament to the fragility of these connections, especially in the context of the Anthropocene.
Grounds methodically collects images representing the internal and external of her existence, then carefully encases these documentations into rhizomatic wire spheres. Through the site specific hanging of these sculptures, Grounds creates cosmic and atomic, rhizomatic landscapes of her world.
The opacity of the sculptures means they overlap and separate as the viewer walks around them. And through the action of walking through the installation, the viewer also becomes a part of the installation, being seen in and through the works. Through this process, Grounds shows us the fluid, multiplicity of all our rhizomatic connections with everything.
The work invites viewers to reflect on what is valued in their own lives and the larger systems at play that influence these valuations. It poses critical questions about loss, memory, and the future, encouraging a deeper understanding of our place within society.
